Wood Process & Energy is currently recruiting a Senior Process Engineer on a contract basis to support our process engineering team in Glasgow & Montrose for a minimum of 12 months.
Hybrid Working - working from home and some days a week expected in our Glasgow office & Montrose's site
The successful candidate) will be joining a multi-disciplinary project team and will have responsibilities for process delivery on several Pharmaceutical projects.
Wood Process & Energy currently services a wide range of UK and overseas industries in Pharmaceutical, O&G, Refining, Petrochemical, and Chemicals but also works in the power sector and emerging technologies, such as Hydrogen and CCS in the energy transition market.
We are looking for an engineer with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance on site projects across the full life cycle on Pharmaceutical studies through FEED and Detailed Design to ensure that Wood continues to differentiate itself from its competitors by delivering quality projects to our Client’s requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the Lead Process Engineer on the delivery of projects. Ensure completion of tasks as assigned by the Lead Engineer
2. Lead the process design activities on smaller scopes ensuring that design meets contractual, safety and quality requirements and is delivered on time and within assigned budgets
3. Understand the technical and commercial risks associated with project scopes and manage these risks through execution
4. Ensure that designs satisfy all operational and safety requirements. Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
5. Execute assigned tasks within the budget and schedule, as well as maintain the technical quality of the submitted work
6. Complete checking of calculations and deliverables as assigned. Ensure the checking of calculations and project deliverables is in accordance with Wood procedures
7. Provide direction and guidance to junior members of the project team to help them complete assigned tasks
8. Complete and/or check sizing calculations including compressible and incompressible hydraulics, vessels, tanks, pumps, control valves and instrumentation. For Brownfield facilities complete rating and sizing calculations for pumps, control valves, heat exchangers etc.
9. Prepare relief calculations and other safety-related calculations
10. Prepare critical process deliverables: Basis of Design, Process Flow Diagrams, Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment specifications, Design Philosophies, P&IDs, Line lists, Tie-in Lists
11. Communicate effectively within a multi-discipline design team to complete assigned tasks
12. When required, provide input to HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other safety reviews as directed
13. Participate in technical meetings with a multi-discipline team to complete tasks.
14. Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of supplier documentation to ensure it fulfils the project requirements

Who we are looking for:
19. Chemical Engineering Degree
20. Chartered Chemical Engineer status preferred
21. Experience working on and leading Studies, FEED and Detailed Design projects associated with the Pharmaceutical sector
22. Experience of the delivery of Brownfield and Greenfield projects
23. Proven core Process Engineering skills and demonstrable design experience
24. A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness. Ability to self-improve and develop knowledge and skills required to fulfil role
25. Demonstrate an understanding of project delivery to take ownership of tasks and understand the impact on other deliverables and disciplines
