Overview

West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is the second largest fire and rescue service in England, serving an area of 902km square and a population of over 2.9 million people. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Prevention Team as Education Support Officer, working directly with the Education Officer to provide advice, guidance, support and training for those who deliver our education programmes to children and young people.

The postholder will play an integral role in supporting the development and improvement of the content and resources for delivery of the programmes, ensuring that they remain aligned to emerging risks, are inclusive and accessible, and meet the needs of those who deliver and receive the educational input.


Responsibilities

* Provision of training, advice and guidance for staff and volunteers
* Support training for internal staff and teams, partners, schools and community groups
* Provide support to the Education Officer to develop education resources
* Ensure educational resources are in place
* Liaise with Communications and Marketing in the targeting and design of prevention communications activity and marketing materials
* Support the implementation of ICT systems for the delivery of prevention activities and programmes
* Marketing and promotion of activities and education programmes
* Support the quality assurance and evaluation of education programmes


Experience and Skills


Essential skills or experience

* Broad knowledge and understanding of all areas of Prevention
* Deliver training to a range of audiences
* Planning, monitoring and evaluation processes, including collecting and assessing customer feedback and outcomes
* Partnership working: able to work on own initiative, autonomously, and adapt to team working when required
* Skilled in the use of technology including MS O365
* Trusted and able to deal with confidential issues
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
* Able to build and maintain working relationships with a variety of stakeholders


Desirable skills or experience

* Relevant current educational experience of working with young people and adults
