 
        
        The Neurology Team has a new exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Parkinson's Disease. This role would be suitable for a candidate who has an interest or some experience in neurology with relevant knowledge and who is keen to develop skills in this area. The successful candidate will work under supervision of the current Advanced Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist and Consultant Neurologists. The aim will be to enable them to develop their competencies in this highly specialised role. This is a highly satisfying, but demanding role and it is essential that candidates are extremely motivated, proactive, dedicated and willing to learn.

The role will consist of working within the Neurology team based at York Teaching Hospital with the expectation that the successful candidate will also run clinics at Malton and Selby Hospitals. The post holder will work closely with the nursing and medical teams.
Main Duties
 * Responsibility for the management of a defined caseload.
 * Continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
 * Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialty service.
 * The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
 * If working as a non-medical prescriber to also initiate and prescribe treatment and evaluate its clinical effectiveness.
