Role Overview
Graduate Analyst – Financial Crimes Service Delivery Centre
As a graduate analyst in our Belfast-based Financial Crimes Service Delivery Centre, you will support client delivery teams on engagements focused on Transaction Monitoring or Trade Surveillance, depending on project needs. You will receive on‑the‑job training and ongoing support to develop the core skills required. While the scope of each project may be different, your duties and responsibilities may include:
Responsibilities
* Transaction Monitoring (L1 Alerts): review transaction monitoring alerts generated by internal systems; manage alert queues; carry out initial checks to understand flagged transactions or accounts; review customer account information and due diligence records; investigate unusual patterns or behaviours; use internal systems, online sources, and commercial databases to gather information; document findings and explain why alerts are cleared or escalated; escalate higher‑risk or unclear cases to senior analysts; complete reviews accurately while meeting productivity and quality standards; record interactions, issues, or outcomes in internal systems; work closely with the team to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
* Junior Trade Surveillance Analyst: monitor trading activity using surveillance systems to identify unusual price, volume, or trading patterns; review alerts and market data to understand flagged activity; conduct initial analysis of potential market abuse or conduct risks; assist with investigations by gathering relevant data and supporting documentation; document findings and summarise observations in line with procedures; escalate unusual or higher‑risk activity to senior team members; meet quality and productivity standards while maintaining strong attention to detail; participate in training and feedback sessions to build understanding of financial markets and regulatory expectations.
* Team & Professional Development: collaborate with colleagues in a fast‑paced delivery environment; participate in daily team activities, morning huddles, training sessions, and quality reviews; build foundational knowledge of financial crime, market abuse, and regulatory frameworks; develop analytical, professional, and communication skills required for a consulting career.
Qualifications
* Strong educational background; recent graduate (or final‑year student) with a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Investment Management, Accounting, or a similar discipline.
* Motivated, detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills and an interest in financial markets and regulation.
* Genuine interest in financial services, transaction monitoring, market behaviour, and regulatory oversight.
* Prior exposure to banking, trading, or risk is beneficial but not required.
* Comfortable reviewing data, following processes, and identifying unusual patterns or behaviours.
* Ability to document findings clearly and communicate effectively within a team environment.
* Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and ask questions, ability to follow procedures, and confidence working in a structured, target‑driven environment.
* Competent with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with good relationship building and engagement skills.
