Role

Merseycare Foundation Trust has produced an animation available on YouTube explaining the role of peer support / lived experience workers from a team’s perspective, which potential candidates may find helpful. It can be viewed at:

Our Peer Support Workforce is expanding, and we are recruiting STR Lived Experience Support Workers to work in the Liaison and Diversion Reconnect Resettlement service.

These workers will serve across our Court and Reconnect services. A key responsibility is facilitating community engagement by helping service users connect with community groups and networks, promoting social inclusion and a positive identity. The role also involves advocating for service users' rights, accompanying them to appointments, welcoming them to a service, providing signposting advice, and promoting autonomy and self-management. Additionally, the worker will contribute to fostering a recovery-oriented environment by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and using strengths-based, non-discriminatory language to support recovery-focused activities.

This post is subject to an enhanced check with the Adults Barred List, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and police/prison vetting, considering any offending history.

Mersey Care is one of the largest providers of physical and mental health services in the North West, serving over 1.4 million people across the region. We are also commissioned for services covering the North West, North Wales, and the Midlands.

We offer specialist inpatient and community services supporting physical health, mental health, learning disabilities, addiction, and brain injury. Mersey Care is one of only three trusts in the UK offering high secure mental health facilities.

At the core of our mission is our commitment to 'perfect care'—safe, effective, positively experienced, timely, equitable, and efficient. We support our staff to perform their best and work alongside service users, families, and carers to co-design future services. We are currently implementing organizational and service transformation initiatives to improve quality and reduce costs safely.

Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.
