We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects. This role requires a strategic and commercially astute leader with experience in managing Tier 1 contractor environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project teams, managing budgets and forecasts, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
* Manage full project lifecycle from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
* Develop and execute detailed project delivery plans aligned with client requirements and contractual obligations.
* Ensure project milestones are met on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Design and Construction Integration
* Align design outputs with construction delivery, ensuring buildability, programme compliance, and technical coordination across multidisciplinary teams while managing stakeholder engagement and digital integration.
Team & Resource Management
* Lead multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, subcontractors, and consultants.
* Allocate and optimise resources across multiple workstreams.
* Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and mentoring.
Commercial & Contract Management
* Lead contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, ensuring favourable terms and risk mitigation.
* Administer and manage NEC contracts, ensuring compliance and effective change control.
* Identify and de-risk project elements early, implementing mitigation strategies.
* Negotiate and manage subcontractor packages, ensuring scope clarity, cost control, and performance.
Cost & Financial Control
* Oversee project budgets, cost plans, and financial reporting.
* Prepare accurate financial forecasts including cash flow and labour projections.
* Monitor cost performance and implement corrective actions to maintain profitability.
Labour Forecasting & Planning
* Develop and maintain labour forecasts aligned with project schedules.
* Coordinate with HR and subcontractors to ensure workforce availability and compliance.
* Monitor productivity and adjust labour plans to meet evolving project needs.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Promote a strong health and safety culture across all project activities.
* Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and internal safety policies.
* Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
* Provide regular progress updates, reports, and risk assessments.
* Resolve issues and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
* Minimum 710 years of experience in M&E project management, ideally with Tier 1 contractors.
* Proven experience managing NEC contracts and contract negotiations.
* Strong background in subcontractor management and commercial de-risking.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in project management tools (MS Project).
* Valid CSCS card and relevant health & safety certifications (SMSTS, IOSH).
Desirable Attributes:
* Chartered status or working towards (e.g., CEng, MCIOB, MAPM).
* Experience with BIM and digital construction platforms.
* Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
