This Secondary Academy is seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker / Site Supervisor to join our team for a September 2025 start. We are a thriving secondary school in Blackpool committed to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students and staff.
As the Caretaker / Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the security, maintenance, and overall upkeep of our school premises. This is a hands-on role perfect for an individual who is reliable, resourceful, and takes pride in their work. You'll be a key part of our community, ensuring our facilities are always in excellent condition. 🛠️
Key Responsibilities
Security: Manage the opening and closing of the school, act as a keyholder, and respond to out-of-hours call-outs.
Maintenance: Carry out routine repairs and maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical work, and painting.
Health and Safety: Ensure the school site is a safe environment, conducting regular checks and managing health and safety risks.
Grounds: Oversee the upkeep of the school grounds, including litter picking, gritting pathways in winter, and general tidiness.
Management: Liaise with and supervise external contractors, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
Teamwork: Work closely with the school's leadership, staff, and cleaning team to maintain a clean and effective environment.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining high standards. You should have:
Proven experience in a similar caretaker or site supervisor role, ideally within a school or public building.
Strong DIY skills and a practical, problem-solving approach.
A good understanding of school maintenance and health and safety legislation.
The ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively.
A friendly and professional demeanor, with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
