Prospero Teaching works in partnership with Local Authorities, SEND teams and Schools to provide high‑quality alternative education to children and young people across the UK.
We are currently recruiting Functional Skills Tutors in Frodsham and the surrounding areas to support learners who are not accessing full‑time education. Tuition will focus on Functional Skills Maths and/or English at Entry Level 1 and Level 2.
The Opportunity
This role involves supporting children and young people through one‑to‑one tutoring, helping them gain essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for everyday life.
Many learners may have experienced disrupted education and could present with emotional, behavioural or attendance‑related barriers. We are therefore seeking tutors who are confident, empathetic and able to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
Sessions are delivered face‑to‑face and may take place in:
Community settings
Schools or Alternative Provisions
The learner's home
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Functional Skills Maths and/or English tuition on a 1:1 or small group basis
Design and deliver structured lessons tailored to each learner's ability and goals
Identify learning gaps and support skill development at an appropriate pace
Encourage learner engagement and rebuild confidence in education
Track progress and provide consistent feedback
Complete attendance records and weekly progress reports

Pay: Up to £30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Start date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing, subject to learner needs

Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
Have prior experience delivering Functional Skills
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate with the child barred list registered on the update service, or be willing to apply
Be able to provide references covering the last two years of employment or education
