Position: Sourcing Manager (2 positions)
Location: The Quadrant MK (possible relocation to Birmingham New Street or Manchester Square One). Must live within 90 minutes of MK.
Duration: Permanent full‑time.
Band & Salary: Band 3C £55,596 – £65,966.
Brief Description
We are looking for a commercially astute and driven Sourcing Manager to lead high value and complex sourcing projects within the Route Services Commercial and Procurement team.
About the Role
You will work closely with customers and business experts to undertake pre‑market engagement, draft sourcing strategies and tender documentation, lead commercial evaluations and negotiate contracts. You will support risk and governance, handover to supplier management and contribute to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead complex, high‑value sourcing projects across indirect procurement.
* Shape business requirements, conduct market studies and develop sourcing strategies.
* Prepare and manage tender documentation and evaluate proposals.
* Negotiate contracts and achieve commercial outcomes.
* Manage risk, governance and compliance in a regulated environment.
* Support handover to supplier management teams.
* Drive innovation, improve safety, sustainability and efficiency.
Essential Criteria
* Deep sourcing experience with a track record of savings delivery.
* Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
* Experience in contract law and financial management.
* Ability to drive value from complex sourcing opportunities.
* Agile cross‑functional collaboration.
* Political savvy and influencing skills.
* Problem‑solving experience on sourcing challenges.
* Completer‑finisher mindset.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of public sector procurement legislation.
* Experience delivering multi‑million pound procurement projects (over £10m).
* Line management experience.
* Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
