They deliver full M&E design (RIBA stages 1–7), sustainable building services, low-carbon and renewable-ready systems, and integrated control/BMS solutions. Role Overview We seek a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to take a leading role in electrical building services design, support project delivery, and contribute to technical excellence across the full project lifecycle — from concept to completion. This position combines hands-on design responsibility, client interaction, coordination with other disciplines, and mentoring of junior engineers. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant and efficient electrical design work while supporting the growth and development of the electrical team. Key Responsibilities • Deliver full electrical design packages (mains/sub-mains distribution, lighting — internal, external, emergency, specialist and controlled lighting, small power and ancillary services, LV distribution, standby/UPS/generation, data & comms, earthing/bonding, containment systems, renewable-ready power systems, BMS/controls wiring where required). • Produce performance specifications, scopes of work, electrical calculations, drawings/drawings coordination, design risk assessments and tender documents. • Mentor and support junior/mid-level engineers; contribute to internal design reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, best practice, sustainability principles and health & safety requirements. • Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, environmental and specialist building services disciplines to deliver fully integrated, buildable, cost-effective M&E solutions. • Work closely with clients, architects, contractors and project stakeholders — representing the consultancy’s technical standards and maintaining strong professional relationships. • Ensure sustainable, energy-efficient and future-proof building services solutions (including renewable energy integration, low-carbon solutions and smart-building technologies). Required Experience & Skills • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) in building services / electrical engineering. • Substantial experience in building services / M&E design consultancy, delivering projects across a range of sectors (commercial, retail, industrial, education, healthcare, residential, etc.). • Strong experience designing electrical services: distribution, lighting, fire & life safety systems, controls/BMS integration, data/communications, standby/UPS, renewable-ready systems. • Strong technical ability in electrical calculations, design standards compliance, specification writing, tender documentation and risk assessments. • Proficiency in relevant design tools (AutoCAD or equivalent), with the ability to coordinate effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment. Experience with BMS/controls systems and sustainability-led design principles is advantageous. • Strong communication and client-facing skills; able to contribute to team delivery, coordinate workloads, mentor juniors and meet project deadlines. • Commitment to quality, safety, sustainability and continuous improvement — aligned with the consultancy’s values.
