The Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer (EC&I) at our Bolton, Greater Manchester site is responsible for technical leadership of EC&I equipment and projects on site.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical/Control systems Engineering or have completed an apprenticeship as an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician or similar, supported by further study.
This role is primarily project-based as we have several large projects in our plan, however, the ability to support Production with breakdowns by troubleshooting PLC issues is essential.
Understanding of PLC programs is essential, and programming experience is beneficial, however this role will be expected to develop specification documents for new control systems rather than complete the programming themselves.
This role is ideal for someone with relevant qualifications and experience from a similar manufacturing environment looking for a new opportunity to grow and develop within an international company supporting a top tier COMAH site.
In this role you will be accountable for...
Engineering
Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for failures of critical assets.
Determines Critical Spares and performs Min-Max calculations.
Collaborates with Regional Controls teams to align our project plans with the wider business and maintain that relationship to support.
Has a working knowledge of CMMSs and provide first call response to issues from users.
Project Management
Leads EC&I continuous improvement projects on site.
Participates in design review process for capital projects.
Leads, support or review maintenance plans creation for new equipment.
Participates in new process or facility commissioning and start-ups.
Engineering Services
Provides input for selecting and qualifying equipment vendors and contractors.
Development of Systems, Tools and Processes
What we are ideally looking for... Further education including Bachelors degree/Masters in an Engineering related field or a time served Electrician/Instrumentation Technician with considerable experience and further study.
Experience in EC&I Engineering role.
Good interpersonal skills, project management knowledge, organization skills, leadership skills, decision making ability, relationship building.
Preferred: Experience working with or at a COMAH manufacturing facility in the coating and painting industry.
Experienced with CI tools and methodologies, such as Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
