Robert Half are partnering with a specialist investment manager seeking to hire a permanent Fund Accountant into its London-based Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to take sole ownership of the fund accounting function, with scope to grow and develop within the company over time. Previous experience with listed equities is essential for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversight and review of monthly NAVs (including creation and review of shadow NAVs) across a range of fund structures, including hedge funds and long-only strategies.
2. Ownership and management of all tax documentation including withholding tax processes and coordination of global tax requirements and management of fund tax compliance.
3. Act as primary contact with fund administrators, with responsibility for share class hedging and allocations, performance fee calculations and equalisation, and expense allocations and accruals.
4. Review and approval of fund expense budgets (AIFs and UCITS)
5. Coordination of annual audits and ongoing liaison with auditors and tax advisors
6. Review of interim and annual financial statements
7. Support fund-related reporting for internal governance and Board reporting
8. Ownership of research cost accounting and reporting, including monthly accruals and reconciliations, broker payments, and annual costs and charges disclosures.
9. Support new fund launches and product developments
10. Act as a key partner to Operations and Investment teams on fund-related matters
11. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability and controls
12. Drive automation and better use of systems, including AI and emerging technologies
13. Reduce manual processes and help build a more scalable operating model
CANDIDATE PROFILE
14. Proven experience in fund accounting with strong knowledge of alternative and long-only funds.
15. Previous UCITS equity funds experience
16. Experience working with third-party administrators
17. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
18. Confident communicator, able to build relationships across teams and with external providers
19. Proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused with the ability to work autonomously yet has the experience and judgement to understand when it is appropriate to escalate an issue
20. Comfortable working in a busy environment and taking ownership
21. Curious mindset with an interest in improving processes and using technology to drive efficiency
22. Ambition to develop and take on broader responsibility over time
