NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. This is a permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Mon-Thu, 9am-5pm, Fri, 9am - 4.30pm. Post holder will be a Registered Nurse and is required for West Dunbartonshire Community Children’s Nursing Team as part of Specialist Children’s Services NHS GG&C. The team delivers nursing care to children and young people 0-19 years in the community and in Kilpatrick Additional Support (ASL) for Learning School with acute and complex healthcare needs. The post holder will be expected to work with Community Children’s Nursing Team at Acorn Centre, Vale of Leven Hospital carrying out home visits and providing support at acute and community outpatients clinics including Trisomy 21 clinic. They will be expected to assist with venepuncture. They will also be expected to work with the Disability Nursing Service, Health for All Nursing Service (care experienced children and young people).They will also be expected to deliver the immunisation programmes at Kilpatrick ASL School. The post holder must have the ability to work on own, making appropriate clinical judgements independently but also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, promoting integrated nursing approaches. The post holder will participate in multi-disciplinary assessment of children and young people including those with additional support needs. They will be expected to undertake sleep assessments/reviews/monitoring of melatonin and undertake Nurse Led assessments for children and young people on Disability pathway. The post holder will be responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care plans and provide nursing care as necessary. The post holder will promote the principles of self-care to children, young people, families and carers and empower them to access and use health resources in the community.
