We are looking for a creative and resourceful Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (ROVI) to work with us in the Community Prevention and Early Intervention Directorate of the Adult Services and Wellbeing Directorate at Calderdale Council. The Sensory team provides information, advice and support to people with significant sight loss, hearing loss, sight and hearing loss, who are Deaf BSL users or who are Deafblind.
As a Senior ROVI you will take responsibility for your own professional practice and the development of the Sensory Team. Leadership skills are essential to ensure the sensory team remain committed, connected and engaging with local partners, people with sensory impairment and identified carers.
It is essential that you are a qualified rehabilitation worker, holding one of the profession‑based qualifications available through national training establishments. You should be registered, or willing to register with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network.

Direct contact with people, usually face‑to‑face, to provide person‑centred rehabilitation support to adults with sight loss and dual sensory loss, enhancing independence, mobility, confidence and quality of life.

Assess needs and provide interventions that promote self‑reliance and utilise Calderdale community‑led support.
* Leadership & Professional Development
Promote professional development and wellbeing of team members, identify training opportunities through regular supervision.
* Resourcefulness and creativity
Recognise that formal services are not the only way to achieve personal outcomes for people with sensory impairment, and use local community assets to problem‑solve and meet their requirements.
* Adult Social Care Knowledge
Experience and/or knowledge of the impact sensory loss can have on people in their daily lives, challenges faced and striving for equal participation in community life.
