Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Equine Groom to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a solid understanding of horticulture and maintenance practices. This role involves working closely with horses, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining the facilities to provide a safe and clean environment.
Duties
* Provide daily care for horses, including grooming, feeding, and monitoring their health.
* Maintain cleanliness of stables, paddocks, and surrounding areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
* Assist with the irrigation of pastures and gardens as needed.
* Use hand tools and power tools for various maintenance tasks around the facility.
* Perform basic equipment repairs and upkeep to ensure all equipment is in good working order.
* Engage in heavy lifting when necessary, particularly when handling feed or bedding materials.
* Apply basic math skills for measuring feed portions or calculating supplies needed.
* Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the overall welfare of the animals and smooth operation of the facility.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in animal care, particularly with horses, is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of horticulture practices is an advantage.
* Mechanical knowledge and experience with equipment repair are beneficial.
* Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the role.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and care.
* A positive attitude and ability to work well within a team environment are essential.
