About the role CBH Medical is looking to directly hire Med-Techs for Western Tidewater Regional Jail. Support medical and nursing staff by providing personal hygiene and nursing care for inmates in addition to performing necessary clerical duties. What you'll do 1. Registered Certified medication aides dispense oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients. 2. They observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses. 3. Medication aides monitor the patient’s vital signs, calculate medication dosages and stock the medication cart. 4. Certified medication aides also record what medications were given for the day and the dosage in the nurse’s medication administration record (MAR) chart. 5. Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments. 6. Assist the nurse and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed. 7. File charts, MAR’s lab reports, etc… Pull files on discharged inmates and refile in the inactive file. 8. Encourages, participates, and supports safety program components including development, education, training, and communications regarding mandatory OSHA trainings and employee health and safety programs. 9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Once training is complete, graduates are required to obtain their medication aide certification through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Graduates are required to take the certification exam within three months after training. Certification through a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent high school graduate CPR certification
