Upland Manor Care Home “Opening September 2025” is a modern, purpose-built 59 bed care facility in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The home delivers residential, nursing, and dementia care with a commitment to quality and compassion. A varied programme of daily activities and gentle exercise supports residents to stay active and fulfilled. Our dedicated team is selected for warmth and professionalism, with induction and ongoing training to ensure consistently high standards of care.
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Chef to work with the Head Chef to ensure a high quality of food service that responsive to residents’ needs and contributes to their positive experience of living in the Home. This role is a 38 hour contract with alternate weekend working. Shift times are 07:30–17:30; hourly rate £12.40.
Role Responsibilities
* Ensure menus are presented and displayed in a way residents can understand and can make daily choices.
* Provide meals in sufficient quantities, considering medical, ethnic, and personal dietary needs and preferences.
* Ensure all food is nutritionally balanced, attractively presented, served in a timely manner, and in the correct sequence.
* Understand, follow and adhere to company HACCP and maintain full compliance.
* Keep the kitchen and serving areas clean and hygienic, maintain a high standard of infection control, adhere to the Food Standards Act 1999, and manage cleaning rotas and records.
* Follow instructions from Head Chef and Chef.
* Undertake pot washing duties when required.
* Inspire and motivate the team to produce food to high standards.
Skills and Experience Required
* Experience of working during busy meal periods including breakfast and evening meal service.
* Experience of working in a care home or similar environment.
* Knowledge of specialised diets and service delivery.
* Ability to contribute to and develop the four-week menu.
* Ability to complete records demonstrating adherence to legal requirements.
