Our client, a renowned entity in the marine sector, is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer with proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for a contract position. This role involves producing designs for equipment related to specialised Naval deck machinery, encompassing Replenishment At Sea (RAS) equipment, winches, reelers, and cranes. The position is for an initial 6-month engagement. Key Responsibilities: Develop Electrical Engineering solutions that fulfil client requirements, progressing from requirements capture, through concept design to product development, commissioning, and in-service support. Investigate safety and technical problems using structured problem-solving techniques. Develop circuit diagrams for motor control equipment including direct-on-line and variable speed drives. Create cable connection diagrams for motor control and control console equipment. Provide technical reference and guidance to equipment suppliers, internal departments, and customers. Manage supplier interfaces and offer technical assistance and approval to suppliers. Check the technical work of others and provide technical guidance to colleagues and suppliers. Create technical design appraisal documents for submission to marine classification societies. Conduct Arc Flash assessments and other calculations to substantiate designs. Job Requirements: Experience with AutoCAD and electrical design. Established set up as an independent Ltd Company or via an Umbrella Company. BEng in an Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent technical capability. Understanding of working in a highly regulated industry. Experience in concept, product development, and in-service (ILS) support. Selection of AC and DC motor control systems and programming of PLCs and motion control systems. Competence in producing technical specifications, test procedures, and technical manuals for marine application electrical systems. Proficiency with recognised CAD packages (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN). Competent user of MS Office suite of programmes. Conversant with BS EN 8888 for the production of drawings. Additional experience in selecting and programming closed-loop position and motion control systems, as well as the production of service and instruction manuals according to marine and military standards, will be beneficial.
