A specialist secondary provision in Bury is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs including SEMH, autism and learning difficulties, and provides a structured and supportive environment focused on helping pupils re-engage with education.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident, patient and able to build strong relationships with young people who may require additional emotional and behavioural support.
The role
You will be working closely with teaching staff to support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom. The role involves a mixture of 1:1 support and small group work, helping pupils access learning and develop both academically and socially.
You will play a key role in maintaining a positive and structured classroom environment, supporting behaviour management and encouraging pupils to stay engaged.
Key responsibilities
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Assisting pupils in accessing lessons and completing work
• Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
• Working closely with teachers and SEN staff
• Encouraging positive engagement and independence
• Providing consistent support throughout the school day
The ideal candidate
• Experience working with children or young people (SEN, SEMH, care or youth work)
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Full-time availability Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
