Lead Developer - Remote UK - £70,000-£80,000 DOE
We're working with an organisation that is building a new platform and is looking for a Lead Developer to take technical ownership from day one.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior full-stack engineer who thrives in a structured, enterprise-grade environment and enjoys staying hands-on while defining architecture, setting engineering standards, and driving secure delivery practices within a "fail fast" product mindset.
The Opportunity
You'll lead engineering on the first product within a wider cloud transformation strategy. The platform consists of a .NET MAUI mobile application (iOS & Android), an Angular 21 web application, and Azure-hosted backend services built using modern Microsoft technologies.
Reporting to the Product Owner, you'll play a pivotal role in defining architectural standards, implementing robust DevOps practices, and ensuring security, performance, and maintainability are embedded from the outset.
This role blends hands-on development, architectural leadership, and close collaboration with Product, UX (Figma), and QA teams. The expectation is high-quality, production-ready code with strong test coverage and fully automated deployments.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Writing secure, production-grade, well-tested code across backend, frontend, and mobile
* Taking architectural ownership of APIs, mobile offline patterns, and Azure infrastructure
* Designing and building RESTful services using modern .NET and clean architecture principles
* Leading Infrastructure as Code implementation using Bicep
* Driving CI/CD maturity (Bitbucket preferred) with strict SDK and dependency version control
* Ensuring OWASP-aligned secure coding practices and GDPR compliance
* Collaborating with QA to support automated and manual test strategies
* Documenting architectural decisions (ADRs) and maintaining clear technical communication
Tech Stack & Experience
Core technologies:
* .NET 10 / ASP.NET Core Web API
* Entity Framework Core with Azure SQL
* .NET MAUI (offline-first mobile design)
* Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Application Insights)
* Azure Entra ID authentication & RBAC
* Angular 21
* TypeScript (strict mode)
* DevExpress DevExtreme (v25)
* NUnit, Vitest, and Playwright
What They're Looking For
* 7+ years' commercial software development experience
* Minimum 3 years working within fast-paced, "fail-fast" delivery environments
* At least 2 years in a leadership position
* Strong expertise in modern .NET and API design
* Proven Angular experience (v15+)
* Hands-on Azure architecture and deployment experience
* Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Bicep preferred)
* Experience integrating Azure Entra ID authentication
* Strong understanding of CI/CD and enterprise DevOps practices
* Security-first mindset with knowledge of OWASP Top 10
* Experience building high-performance, enterprise-grade systems
