Job Title: Bin & Box Driver (3.5T)

You'll help keep Brighton & Hove clean, safe and moving by delivering and collecting bins and boxes for residents and businesses across the city. If you enjoy being out on the road, using in‑cab technology and taking pride in a job well done for your community, this role is for you.
What you'll be doing
Driving a 3.5T Luton tail‑lift vehicle to deliver and retrieve waste and recycling containers across Brighton & Hove, using in‑cab technology to receive and complete tasks.
Planning efficient routes to support our carbon‑neutral goals and completing all required documentation at the start and end of your shift.
Carrying out twice‑daily vehicle checks, keeping the vehicle clean, roadworthy and refuelled/charged; reporting defects to Fleet and your Operations Manager.
Assisting with unloading supplier deliveries, organising stock and maintaining good housekeeping at the bin compound.
Jet‑washing and preparing pre‑used bins for reuse; transporting damaged bins for recycling in line with council values.
Using equipment safely and responsibly, always following Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and work instructions.
Providing a professional, helpful service to residents and other stakeholders when working on public land, wearing ID and representing the service positively.
Staying in contact during your shift; reporting unsafe acts/conditions, incidents or near misses in line with policy.What you'll bring
A full, valid, clean UK driving licence (standard/Category B) suitable for driving a 3.5T Luton tail‑lift vehicle.
Good local knowledge of Brighton & Hove, plus a basic understanding of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Health & Safety.
Experience working to SOPs, deadlines and service standards, including manual handling.
Confidence using a smartphone/tablet and in‑cab systems.
Calm, organised and customer‑focused-able to work on your own and as part of a team.
Able to meet the physical requirements of the role and work outdoors in all weather.Diversity, inclusion & safety
