Overview
To provide a high quality and efficient Phlebotomy service to the trust. To provide leadership, supervision, ensure delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational management of the Phlebotomy team. The role involves daily management of the in-patient, out-patient, GP and domiciliary Phlebotomy service, as well as the stabilisation service on site, with a focus on service quality, patient experience and meeting prescribed turnaround times.
We are currently looking for a Phlebotomy Supervisor to be based at the George Eliot site. The role includes working closely with other Phlebotomy Supervisors in the Network and with the new Pre-Analytics Lead Supervisors, with rotation to other main sites within the Network. The successful candidate will lead a team of phlebotomists, with support from the Team Leader, to deliver high quality services to our patient population. The service is expanding to a 7-day operation across In-patient, Out-patient and domiciliary settings.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the phlebotomy team to deliver high quality phlebotomy services across In-patient, Out-patient and domiciliary settings.
* Ensure delivery of KPIs and operational management of the Phlebotomy service.
* Oversee training and regular revalidation of Phlebotomists and, where necessary, performance management.
* Monitor service performance and develop the service in collaboration with senior Pathology Managers to meet user and patient needs.
* Facilitate the expansion of the service to 7 days and lead, support and develop this extended service.
* Collaborate with Network Supervisors and Pre-Analytics Lead Supervisors; rotate to other main sites as required.
* Work to enhance patient experience and ensure quality of service with timely turnaround times.
Requirements
* A full UK driving licence is essential for this post; international driving licences are not accepted.
* Immunisation and vaccination report required, from either the current UK occupational health provider or UK GP.
* Extensive phlebotomy experience with demonstrated experience in a senior/supervisory role within a phlebotomy environment.
* Able to work across Trust sites and support a 7-day service.

* Area covered includes Coventry, Warwickshire, West Leicestershire and East Birmingham; service provision at five main sites (University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry and Rugby, City of Coventry Health Centre in Coventry, George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, South Warwickshire Foundation Trust in Warwick) with additional Community and GP Clinics and domiciliary services.
