JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Environmental Supervisor is to work with QHSE management to plan, establish, implement, and maintain the environmental program, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support QHSE management in implementing environmental policies and processes.
2. Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentoring to top management, visitors, employees, and stakeholders on environmental initiatives.
3. Ensure compliance with regulations and environmental protocols, covering training, incident reporting, audits, and issue tracking.
4. Review internal Environmental policies, conduct risk assessments, and recommend changes or new recommendations.
5. Oversee Environmental reporting, procedures, and documentation for hazardous materials, ensuring regulatory compliance.
6. Identify and address short-term and long-range environmental issues, implementing directives.
7. Perform Environmental/HAZMAT incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
8. Participate in vetting subcontractor environmental pre-qualifications and ensure subcontractors meet environmental requirements.
9. Serve as Incident Commander in an Environmental/HAZMAT emergency response.
10. Develop and conduct ongoing training on hazardous material management, environmental protection, and hazmat response.
11. Conduct periodic surveys and audits to ensure Environmental compliance.
12. Manage Environmental assessment and remediation activities, including report writing and field reports.
13. Provides supervision and leadership to the Environment Technicians and Environmental Foreman daily.
14. Oversee company site-generated hazardous waste in hazardous waste staging areas.
15. Monitor and measure team member performance for accuracy and document daily production metrics.
16. Manage departmental budget, including maintaining adequate supply and inventory levels.
17. Perform other duties as determined by QHSE management.
`JOB QUALIFICATIONS
18. Possession of a BS/BA degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five years of practical and training experience.
19. Maintaining an up-to-date Environmental management certificate or being able to acquire RCRA/EPA hazardous waste management certification within the first 30 days.
20. Preferred possession of HAZWOPER train-the-trainer certification.
21. Current 40-hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) certificate; if expired, the candidate must be capable of obtaining it within the first 30 days.
22. Possession of a valid home of record driver’s license.
23. Minimum of five years in the Environmental/HAZMAT field, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role.
24. Preferred five years of experience with Chemical handling and Air-Monitoring equipment.
25. Construction industry experience, Environmental experience, hazardous waste experience, and certification (i.e., OSHA, 40hr HAZWOPER)
26. Knowledge of implementing ISO 14001, Environmental management systems
27. Certified in HAZMAT awareness or operational level, preferred.
28. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
29. Must be able to utilize test equipment, such as gas analyzers and dosimeters.
30. Proven experience as a people leader. Must be collaborative and have strong problem-solving skills.
31. Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
32. Tactful and cautious while dealing with internal & external stakeholders.
33. Ability to get results through influence, negotiation, and teamwork.
34. Ability to work on an on-call basis as needed.
35. Ability to work under pressure and time-sensitive deadlines.
36. Ability to brief cross-functional teams and upper management on progress reports.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
37. Able to wear a full and half-face respirator.
38. Able to work in confined spaces.
39. Must be detail-oriented and able to follow and manage a project from start to finish.
40. Physical requirements may include lifting to 35 lbs., team lifting 50 lbs., climbing, extended sitting and standing, stooping, stretching, or bending.
