Job Description Criminal Law NQ Solicitor – Dangerous Dog Offences Location : Leeds City Centre Salary : £32,000 to £40,000 Experience : NQ Solicitor (or experienced Paralegal), ideally with 2 years’ criminal law experience (flexible) The Opportunity This is a great opportunity to join a busy Criminal Defence team in Leeds City Centre, with a specialist focus on Dangerous Dog Offences. You will work on varied, hands-on matters with strong client contact, court exposure and the support to develop your advocacy and case management skills. What You’ll Be Doing Managing a caseload of criminal defence matters, with a focus on Dangerous Dogs Act work Advising clients on prohibited breeds and dogs dangerously out of control Preparing files from initial instruction through to conclusion Drafting statements and key documents, reviewing evidence and building case strategy Liaising with clients, police, CPS, courts and other third parties Attending court and supporting hearings, with scope to build advocacy experience Working accurately and efficiently, prioritising deadlines in a busy environment What We’re Looking For Essential Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales (NQ) or an experienced Paralegal looking to progress Background in criminal law (guideline 2 years’ experience, but flexibility for the right person) Strong case management skills and confidence handling client enquiries Excellent written and verbal communication Proficient IT skills, with strong attention to detail Calm under pressure, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines Flexible, adaptable and collaborative working style Desirable Experience of, or strong interest in developing, Dangerous Dogs Act work Advocacy experience or a clear interest in building advocacy skills What’s On Offer Profit share bonus (employee-owned firm) 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service) Additional day off for your birthday Pension Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support Flexible and supportive working culture About Our Client Our client is a well-established Yorkshire law firm with a strong regional presence and a people-first culture.
