An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Information and Support Assistant within the Information and Support Centre at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. This is a part-time position (15 hours per week), permanent, and involves agile working across the Liverpool, Aintree and Wirral sites.
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive individual with experience in providing high-quality information and emotional support to patients, families and carers. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a welcoming, accessible and supportive service within the centre. They will work closely with the wider team to ensure people affected by cancer receive accurate information, signposting, and practical support tailored to their needs.
This role includes supporting the centre's day-to-day operations, contributing to service development, and helping maintain a calm, person-centred environment. The ideal candidate will be confident communicating with a wide range of people, able to manage sensitive conversations, and committed to enhancing the overall experience of those accessing our services.
Main duties of the job
Provide personalised cancer information and support, helping people navigate health and social care services.
Identify when needs are complex and refer to the appropriate professional or service.
Support the National Cancer Strategy by organising and attending awareness, early-diagnosis, and health-promotion events.
Promote self-management and well being for people affected by cancer.
Signpost and empower service users
Deputise for the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Manager when required.
Supervise, guide, and support volunteers across all Information and Support Service sites.
Contribute to delivering a high-quality, consistent service across the three Clatterbridge Cancer Centre locations.
