* Female Youth Leader (Part-Time) ** Mill Hill United Synagogue
Fixed-Term, 12 months (with potential for renewal) Start Date: ASAP | Hours: 12–15 per week | Salary: Dependent on experience
Are you a warm, relatable role model who’s passionate about inspiring the next generation of Jewish girls?
Mill Hill United Synagogue is looking for a dynamic Female Youth Leader to help shape a vibrant, fun and welcoming youth culture — with a particular focus on engaging girls aged 11–18.
Why Mill Hill?
We’re one of the largest and liveliest United Synagogue communities, with an exceptional rabbinic team, an active membership, and nearly 500 youth aged 11–18. This is a community on the move — with big plans to reimagine youth engagement, rebuild our programmes, and make shul feel like home for the next generation.
You’ll be joining at an exciting time of renewal, working closely with our Director of Youth Development to bring fresh energy, creativity and consistency to our youth offering. From Shabbat mornings to Bat Mitzvah journeys, Sunday socials to Jewish festivals — you’ll play a central role in helping girls feel proud, connected and truly part of something.
About The Role
This is more than a job — you will help girls feel seen, valued and excited to belong. You’ll:
* Build genuine, trusting relationships with girls aged 11–18
* Lead and support regular youth programming (Shabbat, Sundays, midweek)
* Be an active presence in the Bat Mitzvah programme
* Deliver fun, meaningful content that reflects your passion for Jewish life
* Work alongside a committed youth team and a supportive community
About You
This role is ideal for a recent graduate or university student with previous youth leadership experience (e.g. camps, youth groups) who’s eager to give back in a warm, fulfilling community setting. You are:
* Friendly, confident and approachable
* Passionate about Orthodox Jewish values
* A natural relationship-builder with teenage girls
* Proactive, creative and organised
* Comfortable leading informal Jewish programmes
* Available for regular Shabbat mornings and flexible hours throughout the week
* Based in walking distance from Mill Hill Synagogue (or able to reliably attend on Shabbat)
Working Hours
12–15 Hours/week, Typically Including
* Shabbat mornings (~3 hrs)
* Sunday sessions (~3–5 hrs)
* Weeknight evenings (~3 hrs)
* Flexible planning/admin time (~1–3 hrs) Additional hours may be needed around trips or special events — we’ll work with you to support balance.
What You’ll Gain
* Mentoring and support from the Director of Youth Development
* Experience in programme planning, leadership and communal engagement
* A platform to make a real difference in young people’s lives
* The joy of watching the girls you support grow, thrive and shine
