Job Introduction
We have an opening for an 11kV Planner within our Network Services team, based in Somerset, at Taunton/Crewkerne. The role involves project design, costing, and the development of 11kV network reinforcement, replacement, and automation schemes, including load flow and fault level analysis.
Qualifications
* Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 (or equivalent)
* GCSEs in English and Maths (A*-C/4-9) or Level 2 Functional Skills in both subjects
* Evidence of qualifications will be required prior to appointment
* If not already attained, the successful candidate will need to undertake HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Note: The initial salary may be lower until relevant courses and training are completed. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining office and home working, subject to training completion and business needs.
Main Responsibilities
* Design and analysis of 11kV network reinforcement and automation schemes
* Connection design, feasibility studies, and quotations for new loads and connections
* Managing necessary consents, technical reports, and connection agreements
* Supporting network planning and coordination with other teams
* Preparing load forecasts and analyzing power quality through on-site measurements
Ideal candidates will possess an analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and confidence in dealing with clients such as architects, developers, and businesses. Experience with network modeling and tools like Crown, Des/Emu, Windebut, HV Genie is advantageous.
Flexibility and mobility within the area are essential, and candidates should be willing to undertake additional duties as needed. Training will support skill development, and some roles may require standby duties and operational authorization.
Applicants may not have all skills initially but should demonstrate the confidence and ability to develop them through training. The role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check, with screening levels depending on the specific position.
