The Role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships across our giftware categories. You will work closely with the Design and Product Development teams to ensure products are commercially viable, margins are achieved, and critical timelines are met.
This role focuses on supplier sourcing & management, commercial analysis, and supporting product development.
Key responsibilities
* Supplier Management & Negotiation
o Source and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers and manufacturers.
o Negotiate costs, terms, and conditions to maximise value and protect margins.
o Draw on established industry contacts to broaden supplier options to support the growth and diversification of our supply base.
* Commercial & Margin Analysis
o Analyse product costs and margins to ensure profitability.
o Provide recommendations to improve cost efficiencies and competitiveness.
o Support the product team with financial insight during development stages.
* Collaboration & Communication
o Act as the link between Suppliers, Product Development, and Design teams.
o Provide updates on sampling, lead times, and risks to the critical path.
o Advise the design team on supplier capabilities, materials, and cost feasibility.
* Product Development Support
o Ensure supplier quotes and samples align with design intent, timelines, and commercial targets.
o Monitor and manage critical paths and launch timelines, escalating risks or delays where needed.
o Support resolution of product queries and quality concerns during development.
About You
* Proven experience as a Buyer in giftware, homeware, or related consumer goods.
* Strong network of supplier contacts within international giftware manufacturing (particularly Asia).
* Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of delivering margin improvements.
* Commercially astute, with experience in margin analysis, costings, and critical path management.
* Solid knowledge of the product development lifecycle (sampling, approvals, production timelines).
* Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Collaborative communicator, able to liaise effectively across design and product teams.
* CIPS qualification or degree-level education preferred, though not essential.
