The post holder will provide an efficient, effective and comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Endoscopy Department in accordance with the standard operating procedures and trust policies and procedures, to ensure patients requiring procedures within the department have their pathway managed efficiently and effectively

We are looking to appoint an Endoscopy Unit clerk to support the day to day running of the Endoscopy unit.
You should have proven patient care skills or worked in a patient/customer care focused environment. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills able to work well under pressure and be a key team player.

Job responsibilities
1. To co-ordinate the day to day management and maintenance of theinpatient/day case waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy andEndoscopy Booking Policy.2. To book day cases and procedures undertaken in endoscopy, within givenguidelines ensuring the national and local targets are met.3. To replace cancellations, as and when necessary, with like for like cases or withinguidelines provided, whilst taking into account the national targets for waitingtimes.4. To instruct patients with regard to the stopping of specific medication and informpatients of starving requirements depending on scheduling of procedure.5. Dealing with all patients enquires regarding cancellations, rescheduling andholiday bookings.6. To contact the patients and agree a convenient date for their admission, in linewith booked admissions

Qualifications
* Good standard level of education (GCSE or equivalent) in four subjects, one to be English.

EXPERIENCE
* Dealing with patients/public face to face or working in a customer focused environment.
* Knowledge of Patient Administration System and/or Endovault would be desirable
* Working as part of a team in a busy environment.
SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection issues
* Ability to work under pressure whilst remaining calm and approachable.
* Excellent communication skills when acting as first point of contact for enquiries or complaints
