Transport Supervisor

General Description:
TKC are a large, well established kitchen manufacturer/distributor who are currently looking for a Transport Supervisor to work from our premises in Denton. The Transport Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Transport manager in the management of a dynamic transport team, helping to take the business forward as well as furthering your own career through a period of growth.
A hands-on approach is a must to work alongside our drivers and therefore experience in a similar field is essential for this role.
Our ideal candidate must be able to work independently and as a key part of our existing transport team. Strong planning and organisational skills are a must along with excellent time and work management.
Key Tasks:
* Consistently lead a team of drivers by example.
* Mentor, engage and develop your team to be high performing at all times, as well as achieving company vision.
* Track and report on performance for the transport team.
* Manage sickness and absence.
* Complete investigations where necessary.
* Manage driver tachographs and infringements through our preferred system.
* Engage and build positive working relationships with internal and external partners.
* Assist with coordinating the Drivers and their daily runs.
* Provide sickness and holiday cover for colleagues in the department. Brief drivers to ensure that all instructions for their allocated runs are communicated.
* Responsible for Health and Safety of the team, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
* Monitoring KPI data, identifying trends with a view to improving efficiencies and achieving continuous improvement targets.
* Responsibility to collate (and where applicable liaise with other sites to make sure KPI completion is adhered to daily) and circulate daily KPI data to relevant management team.
* Liaise with fleet maintenance providers as and when required and log fleet issues/call outs.
* Assist with the management of the fleet, ensuring that vehicles required for service are presented when scheduled or requested.
* Assist with 3PL queries and KPI's.
* Deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Candidate Specification
* Good problem solver
* Articulate, numerate and computer literate
* Good geographical knowledge
* Flexible in approach and able to work a rotating shift pattern where required Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation relevant to the workplace
* Ability to communicate with confidence to a wide range of audiences
* Able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
* Excellent organisational skills
* High attention to detail
* Ability to follow and provide clear instructions
Education/Work experience requirements
Essential
· Experience of working in a similar role
· Good administration skills
· Proficient in MS Excel
· Educated to GCSE level or above
Desirable
· Knowledge of transport legislation
· Knowledge of fleet management processes and systems
