As Receptionist in the Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, managing patient information, processing paperwork and delivering friendly, welcoming service across a busy, dynamic ED environment.
Responsibilities
* Accurately book patients into the electronic system and respond to enquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
* Adhere to local policies and procedures.
* Communicate appropriately with the public and staff, taking into account any communication difficulties such as hearing impairment or limited English proficiency.
* Answer telephone enquiries and transfer calls within or between departments.
* Maintain the alphabetical filing system.
* Ensure all patient referrals are processed efficiently.
* Deal tactfully, sensitively and with empathy with all patients and relatives attending the department.
* Work as part of a team within the Emergency Department.
* Attend training courses as required by the departmental manager.
* Use computer systems where appropriate, including email, the internet, intranet and other office systems.
Shift pattern: The role involves a variety of shifts, including nights, early starts, evenings and weekends. A reliable, flexible approach is required, and additional shifts as and when needed will be advantageous.
