We're looking for a dynamic Pre-construction Manager based in Scotland's Central Belt. This pivotal role involves interfacing with supply chain partners, designers, and internal teams to deliver successful pre-construction outcomes on a high-profile energy infrastructure scheme. You will connect strategic planning with on-site delivery readiness, ensuring clear vision, defined scope, and confident programme.
Working with colleagues across the Energy workstream, you will share best practices across multiple transmission projects.
What you'll be doing
As a Pre-construction Manager, your responsibilities include:
* Leading the pre-construction phase for the substation build as the primary contact for clients and key partners.
* Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to align designs, scope, and programme from feasibility to mobilisation.
* Championing Balfour Beatty's standards in safety, innovation, and technical delivery, particularly CDM 2015 and Health by Design.
* Ensuring designs are efficient, constructible, and set the project up for success before ground is broken.
* Leading and developing a talented team, promoting learning across the pre-construction discipline.
* Interfacing seamlessly with internal business units and partner organizations across the energy sector.
* Producing reports and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
* Introducing emerging digital tools, including BIM Level 2, 3D design, CGI modelling, and defect avoidance techniques.
Who we're looking for
What You Need
* A strong technical background in civil or structural engineering, ideally within power, utilities, or infrastructure.
* Proven experience leading complex pre-construction stages from feasibility through to site start.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to influence partners.
* A collaborative mindset valuing knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
* Familiarity with industry standards and governance, including gated lifecycle processes.
* A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a passion for thorough preparation before construction begins.
