Reporting to the Turbine Island Lead, the Senior Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for various Turbine Island design development activities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall work closely with multi-disciplined teams and the supply chain to help deliver the Turbine Island design.
Key Responsibilities:
* Development and review of Heat Balance Diagrams related to the Turbine Island and wider conventional plant process systems
* Working with operations, control, and instrumentation teams to develop and integrate the Turbine Island operation philosophy
* Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, Component Sizing Calculations, Component and Equipment Datasheets and Specifications, and other design documents
* Development and review of Optioneering Studies, Decision Record Files, Design Descriptions, and Requirement Specifications
* Integration of Turbine Island design into the wider power plant
* Act as technical support and point of contact for Turbine Island interface and stakeholder activities
* Attend and support Design Reviews and HAZID/HAZOP studies with multidisciplinary teams
* Ensure adherence to company H&S policies and compliance with project and Quality Management Systems
Qualifications:
* Experience in nuclear, thermal power, or similar highly regulated industries, with a good background in thermal power systems and equipment such as steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and piping systems
* Experience with FEED, detailed design, and EPC delivery
* Development of procurement specifications and collaboration with equipment suppliers
* Strong technical background in thermal power or similar projects
* Excellent communication skills for interaction with stakeholders
* Ability to manage critical project interfaces
* Knowledge of UK H&S regulations, safety systems, HAZOP, and engineering standards
* Awareness of ASME, European, and UK codes and standards
Personal Attributes:
* Results-oriented, proactive, organized, capable of handling sensitive information, and a team player
* Bachelor’s or higher in engineering; CEng or working towards registration
* SC clearance or eligibility to attain it
