Wood Process & Energy is recruiting for a CAD Operator based within our Ellesmere Port office on a permanent staff basis.
The Role
As a CAD Operator, you will be responsible for using CAD systems to produce electronic technical drawings which can be used for the fabrication and site construction/maintenance of storage tanks
You will apply CAD techniques to develop working drawings, within company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings. Develop working drawings including various views, sections, and details, containing dimensional data for engineering installation, fabrication, or manufacturing purposes.

7. Discuss designs with the engineering/design team, following instructions for developing a design, working from a computer model of the item, or changing detailed diagrams so they can be more easily followed
8. Take physical mark ups from engineers and create drawings
9. Work as part of a small team with each member assigned a separate area of a project under the supervision of a design engineer
10. Produce 3D and 2D drawings (solid and surface modelling)
11. Understand the equations, calculations and written instructions from designers and engineers before beginning a CAD drawing
12. Uses notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings and blueprints
13. Revises drawings based on instructions from engineers or designers
14. May visit sites to collect data for drawings
15. Modifies existing drawings
16. Stores drawings electronically for later use
17. Assist engineers by preparing computer-generated working drawings that are project specific
18. Provide technical drafting support, plot data from direction, and compile engineering data from drawings or field notes
19. Create as-built or revised designs from existing drawings as requested
Minimum ISCED level 3 (Upper Secondary/High School diploma or equivalent)
ISCED Level 4 or 5 Preferred (post-secondary non-tertiary / short-cycle tertiary or equivalent)
Technical CAD training preferred
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
20. Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the engineering field
21. Solid grasp of engineering drawing and principles and understands the qualities of various materials
22. Basic appreciation of construction methods and manufacturing processes
23. Proficient in preparing CAD detail and assembly drawings and material take-off
24. Capable of gathering dimensional and technical data from operating facility
25. Drafting skills that require only moderate supervision
26. Ability to apply 2D and 3D CAD/D techniques
27. Be able to convert verbal and written information into two dimensional drawings — accuracy and attention to detail are essential
28. Must be able to multi-task projects and drawings, and able to prioritize to meet deadlines
29. Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting/modelling software
30. Good communication, numeracy, and IT skills
