Lead E&I Controls Engineer - Slough - Permanent
As Lead E&I (Electrical and Instrumentation) Controls Engineer you will focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated control systems, often within industrial settings. You will work with electrical systems, instrumentation, and control software to ensure processes run efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and Development: Creating control system designs, including hardware and software components, for various industrial processes.
* Instrumentation: Selecting, installing, and calibrating instruments used to measure and monitor process variables like temperature, pressure, and flow.
* Control Systems: Developing and implementing control strategies, often using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
* Testing and Commissioning: Ensuring that control systems function correctly by testing, calibrating, and commissioning the systems.
* Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and repairing issues with control systems and instrumentation, often as part of planned maintenance programs.
* Project Management: Managing projects related to control systems, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with other engineers and contractors.
* Safety Compliance: Ensuring that control systems adhere to relevant safety regulations and standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Engineering Degree: Typically a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field with a focus on control systems.
* Knowledge of Control Systems: Strong understanding of control theory, feedback control systems, and industrial automation technologies.
* Instrumentation Knowledge: Familiarity with various types of industrial instruments and their applications.
* PLC and DCS Experience: Proficiency in programming and configuring PLCs and DCS systems.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in control systems.
* Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with other engineers, technicians, and clients.
* Software Skills: Familiarity with relevant software tools for control system design, simulation, and programming.
