The Opportunity
Working within our Proseal business as a Senior Electrical Design & Compliance Engineer, reporting to the Head of Automation. Your role involves creating, modifying, and maintaining electrical schematic diagrams for packaging machinery. You will be a technical authority on electrical regulations, ensuring compliance for a global market. Responsibilities include sourcing electrical components to meet project requirements and optimize machinery.
On a typical day, you may:
1. Design electrical systems to meet safety and functionality goals.
2. Produce wiring schematic diagrams in compliance with international regulations.
3. Develop test procedures to verify electrical safety and compliance.
4. Model electrical panel layouts.
5. Source components such as sensors, actuators, cables, and switchgear.
6. Ensure correct sizing of cables and protection devices.
7. Develop supporting documentation.
Requirements for the Role
* Electrical Engineering degree, HND, or equivalent, with experience as an electrical design engineer, preferably in the food industry OEM.
* Proficient in Electrical CAD software, ideally EPLAN.
* Familiarity with PLCs, servo drive systems, and AC inverters.
* Knowledge of Mitsubishi control gear is a plus.
* Experience with CE marking, Machinery, Low Voltage, and EMC Directives.
* Familiarity with UL, CSA, and NFPA regulations.
* IET 18th Edition certification.
* Knowledge of industrial wiring practices, EMC noise reduction, cable sizing, and overcurrent device selection.
* Familiarity with Functional Safety standards, ISO EN 13849-1.
Travel & Location
Based onsite in Macclesfield, with occasional travel up to 5% for supplier visits and, rarely, to customers.
