Job Title: General Manager
Position Summary
The General Manager will be instrumental in transforming the culture of our Distribution Centre, championing employee engagement, empowerment, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Logistics Director, this role requires an empathetic leader who prioritises people leadership and values a supportive workplace environment. You will inspire and mentor a diverse management team, cultivating an atmosphere where collaboration thrives, and every team member feels valued and heard.
In addition to overseeing operational performance and safety compliance, you will drive initiatives that promote a positive organisational culture, ensuring employees are engaged and motivated to achieve their best. By fostering open communication and building strong relationships with union representatives, you will help shape a workplace where innovation, inclusion and well‑being are at the forefront. Key Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire the Management team to exceed daily output objectives while fostering an engaging and innovative workplace culture.
* Implement transformational change initiatives that elevate team performance and employee satisfaction.
* Create a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations, actively promoting a culture of safety, and collaborating closely with our H&S Manager.
* Meet and exceed customer service requirements while managing the operational budget effectively.
* Advocate for employee engagement through your leadership style and various initiatives that encourage communication and feedback.
* Build positive relationships with union representatives and ensure our labour relations are constructive.
* Participate in UK and Ireland network management decisions and represent Martin Brower positively within the industry.
Qualifications
* Experience: Significant background in FMCG operations, particularly within a retail or distribution centre. Proven track record in managing large, complex budgets and operations.
* Transformational Leader: A visionary who can sponsor and lead continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining an environment prioritising employee wellbeing.
* Exceptional Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of fostering trust and transparent dialogue across teams.
* Empathetic People Leader: Passionate about developing talent and creating a culture where every team member can thrive; you understand the importance of ongoing feedback and mentorship.
