Skanska is an inclusive and responsible business that is dedicated to building a better society. We are looking for a motivated and skilled Sub Agent to join our Infrastructure - Roads - Lower Thames Crossing team.
The Lower Thames Crossing is a landmark infrastructure project designed to provide a vital alternative crossing for the River Thames. With the Dartford Crossing facing significant overcapacity delays during peak times, this project aims to alleviate congestion on the existing Thames crossing and wider highways network. The completed works will consist of three main contracts: North Roads, Tunnels, and Kent Roads. This project will drive economic growth across Britain by improving connectivity.
As part of the Skanska team, you'll be working on the Kent Roads contract, which includes:
* Upgraded Sections: Enhancing sections of the A2/M2 west of the new LTC junction.
* Highway Construction: Building 3.5km of highway east of the LTC junction, including Junction 1 of the M2.
* Utility Diversions: Managing complex diversions of HV/LV, Gas, Water & Comms utilities.
* Bridge & Retaining Walls: Constructing multiple bridge and retaining wall structures.
* Demolition & Reconstruction: Overseeing bridge demolition and reconstruction.
* New Roads: Developing new side and access roads.
* Earthworks & Compounds: Conducting major earthworks and constructing site compounds.
What You'll Do:
* Develop design, construction methodology, programme, and cost plans.
* Prepare for delivery including resources procurement, consents, and pre-start documentation.
* Develop programmes and forecast budgets; assess actual programme productivity weekly; report changes to Agent/Construction Manager/QS department.
* Manage, supervise, train and mentor site team to optimise work contribution.
* Review contractual agreements; develop detailed site-specific programmes; manage subcontractor accounts with QS team.
* Ensure timely requisitioning of resources to avoid impeding construction programme.
* Communicate non-conformances/instructions from client staff to relevant teams; maintain comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works.
* Keep accurate daily site diary including any changes/variations/subcontractors’ attendance/work-related discussions with Client Project Team.
* Ensure implementation/adherence to inspection/test plans/risk assessments/method statements for control works.
* Demonstrate commitment to Health & Safety/Environmental Policies; implement Safety Management System requirements within responsibility area.
* Ensure Construction Team/Subcontractors/Suppliers are informed about relevant Health & Safety/Environmental Policy developments/issues.
What You'll Bring to the Role:
* Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering with vocational training in Engineering.
* Full UK Driver's Licence
* Knowledge of construction techniques/sequencing/best practices.
* Understanding/experience working with construction contracts.
* Initiative-based decision-making using engineering/practical experience; ability to work independently/proactively while collaborating effectively with team members/stakeholders for project benefit.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD).
* Training in Health & Safety/Environmental management
* Demonstrated experience on Highways Infrastructure projects highlighting specific responsibilities
