This is a varied, hands‑on role where your legal insight will directly support operational leaders, mitigate legal risk and help the charity deliver its purpose across England and Scotland. This is a full time permanent role with travel to our head office in Widnes at least once a week so our ideal candidate will be based within an hours commute of Widnes. What is "The Deal" for you?

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
As Commercial Solicitor, you’ll play a key role in managing legal risk and supporting sustainable growth. In this varied and high-profile role, your responsibilities will include:
7. Reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including publicly procured tenders, supplier agreements, service level agreements and housing arrangements
8. Managing property matters such as leases, licences, heads of terms, disposals and legal charges to ensure statutory compliance and asset protection
9. Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice on operational matters including housing, fire safety, environmental and regulatory compliance
10. Resolving contractual and debt‑related disputes effectively, protecting the charity’s financial position and reputation
11. Drafting procurement documentation to support transparent, compliant sourcing of goods and services
12. Instructing and working with external solicitors where specialist advice is required
13. Staying up to date with legislation and best practice to ensure robust, current legal guidance across the organisation

14. Qualified solicitor with 2–5 years PQE
15. Experience of commercial contracts, property or regulatory matters in a public, private or third‑sector setting
16. Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory compliance
17. Proven ability to identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risk
18. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to non‑legal stakeholders
Desirable:
19. Experience working with or advising charities or public sector organisations
20. Exposure to procurement, policy development or project‑based legal work
21. A proactive, solutions‑focused approach to improving legal processes
