Title: Systems Engineering – Managing Consultant
Salary: £70,000 to £80,000 per annum
Location: Bristol, Leatherhead, Glasgow, Manchester, Burton – any office is acceptable for the right candidate.
Working pattern: flexible hybrid across office, client sites and remote, with the Client Director.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guide clients in Systems Engineering best practices and methodologies.
- Deliver specialist consultancy on systems engineering challenges, digital modelling, and solution architecture.
- Engage stakeholders to understand requirements, define problems, and shape solutions that align with business and operational objectives.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring long‑term collaboration and strategic advisory support.
- Manage bids and proposals by delivering technically sound, commercially viable solutions.
- Oversee systems lifecycle management, including requirements engineering, verification & validation, and system integration.
- Facilitate workshops and technical discussions, ensuring alignment between engineering teams and business objectives.
- Balance technical innovation with commercial strategy to deliver cost‑effective, scalable, value‑adding solutions.
- Provide thought leadership in Systems Engineering by authoring technical reports and sharing best practices across projects.
- Mentor less experienced team members with technical guidance.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering or related discipline.
- Significant experience in a Systems Engineering related role.
- Solid understanding of engineering processes and lifecycles (ISO15288, etc.).
- Demonstrated delivery of technical consultancy to clients, guiding engineering decisions and best practices.
- Deep understanding of systems architecture, system integration, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, or Rhapsody.
- Experience with Requirements Management toolsets (IBMDOORS, DOORSNext, etc.).
- Ability to engage and manage stakeholders, translating technical complexity into actionable solutions.
- Experience supporting bids and proposals with technically sound, commercially viable approaches.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with a strategic mindset for engineering and business development.
Desirable Experience
- Awareness of emerging technologies and innovation strategies within systems engineering, particularly Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience working in Defence.
