One of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancies are currently seeking an experienced and capable Senior Building Surveyor to join their growing team, based from Milton Keynes and working predominantly across Central and North London, as well as surrounding local areas.
My client are continuing to expand due to sustained success across a wide range of instructions, including insurance-led work, with projects covering both residential and commercial buildings in all forms of construction. This is a busy, varied role offering excellent long-term career prospects within a well-established consultancy.
The Senior Building Surveyor Role
The successful Senior Building Surveyor will support the wider surveying team across a broad portfolio of projects, taking responsibility for delivering professional and project services to a high standard. You will work with a high degree of autonomy on larger value schemes, while also contributing to team development and client growth.
This role offers a strong mix of technical surveying, project delivery and client-facing responsibilities, making it ideal for an experienced surveyor looking for responsibility, variety and progression.
Duties of the Senior Building Surveyor to include:
· Inspecting and advising on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings
· Undertaking acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
· Preparing professional reports, schedules of works and technical specifications
· Designing and overseeing works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards
· Independently managing large value projects across professional consultancy services
The Person?
The successful Senior Building Surveyor will be technically strong, commercially aware and confident operating in a client-facing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
· Proven experience in a building surveying consultancy environment
· Strong defect diagnosis and professional report writing capability
· Experience delivering insurance-related projects (desirable)
· Confidence managing projects to deadlines and budgets
· Experience in negotiation, supervision and leadership
· Strong understanding of CDM regulations, Party Wall matters and Building Regulations
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· A flexible, proactive and solution-focused approach
