Salary: £47,000 – £53,000 per annum (DOE) + uplifts for field-based and dual-qualified roles
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Aircraft Instructor to join our specialist aviation training team based at Cotswold Airport (Kemble).
This is an excellent opportunity for a former military professional to bring their technical expertise and instructional experience to a dynamic civilian training environment. The role may specialise in mechanical, avionic, composite, or related specialties, with opportunities to teach in the workshop, classroom, and hangar environments.
Training is delivered to a diverse range of learners — from Apprentices undertaking initial training to experienced industry professionals looking to expand their knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver theoretical and practical instruction on EASA and UK CAA Part-66 training courses — from fundamental subjects to advanced aircraft systems modules.
* Conduct specialised training in aviation mechanical, avionic, and composite disciplines, as well as other industry-related courses.
* Perform examiner and invigilator duties as required.
* Assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of approved training materials, lesson plans, and resources.
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to apprentices and professionals alike, maintaining the highest standards of safety and discipline.
* Support training delivery both at the Cotswold Airport base and at client sites across the UK as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Former RAF aircraft instructor, technician, or engineer (mechanical, avionic, or composite background preferred).
* Minimum 5 years of industry experience in aircraft maintenance or technical instruction.
* Technical instructing or teaching qualification (preferred).
o Note: Candidates without a formal instructing qualification are encouraged to apply — training will be provided for suitable applicants.
* Relevant qualification in aviation maintenance or engineering discipline.
* Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications.
* Clean UK driving licence and ability to travel to client sites.
* Must be able to satisfy an enhanced DBS check.
Terms & Conditions
* Full-time, permanent position.
* Salary: £47,000 – £53,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
o The higher end of the scale applies to those holding all EASA or UK CAA Category B Part-66 modules or a suitable technical/academic degree.
o Additional uplifts available for field-based roles and dual qualification as a Technical Instructor and Apprenticeship Assessor
