Your role:
You will supervise a team of Occupational Therapists and Primary Assessors, managing the allocation of cases and oversight of caseload throughput. You will ensure there is a high standard of assessment and clinical reasoning, and that staff have the necessary skills and knowledge.
You will develop and maintain high professional standards for the team in line with current and future legislative and corporate requirements and will quality assure assessments and major adaptation requests.
You will assist the Early Intervention Manager in ensuring the delivery of high quality and effective services to adults, children, families and carers. You will assist the Early Intervention Manager to manage the team’s performance and deputise in the Early Intervention Manager’s absence. You will also play a key role in driving forward our Progress with Unity vision, working in partnership across the council, with residents and external partners to reduce inequality, improve outcomes and ensure Wigan is a place where everyone can thrive.
About you:
You are a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong understanding of equipment provision and housing adaptations within a local authority context. A confident leader, you inspire teams to deliver person-centred, outcome focused support.
You have excellent communication skills and ask the right questions and will be eager to resolve problems and devise solutions. You have a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working and a commitment to continuous service improvement. Your ability to manage complex cases and guide clinical decision making ensures high standards and efficiency. Organised and resilient, you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about promoting independence and inclusion.

The Early Intervention Service is a well-respected, enthusiastic and proactive multidisciplinary service consisting of Occupational Therapists, Primary Assessors, Sensory Rehab Officers.
We provide a range of services to Wigan residents who have experienced a period of illness or have an ongoing disability, with the aim of improving their level of independence and wellbeing. We achieve this via a reablement approach with programmes being devised by the OT and a collaborative approach to progression of the service user’s outcomes with our in-house Reablement service.
We also offer compensatory solutions via the provision of equipment, adaptations and assistive technology devices, enabling people to remain in their own homes. We are a committed team wholly focused on improving the lives of our service users. The early intervention and prevention service forms part of Integrated Community Services within the Healthier Wigan partnership.
