Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering environment.
You will take ownership of key projects, support and mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with production teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
·Develop product designs in line with project requirements
·Produce high-quality engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation
·Liaise effectively with production teams to support manufacturing processes
·Generate cut lists, jigs, and utilise nesting software (training provided if required)
·Create user manuals and technical guides for engineers and end users
·Maintain and manage a log of design issues, ensuring effective resolution
·Enhance and improve existing product designs
·Select appropriate materials based on design and customer requirements
·Conduct structural calculations, stress analysis, and tolerance assessments
·Prepare design specifications, reports, and procurement documentation
·Ensure compliance with quality standards and health & safety procedures
·Propose and implement design changes with consideration to cost, feasibility, and timelines
Requirements
·Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
·Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy engineering
·Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
·Strong technical drawing capability
