Overview
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist with a passion for working in an inpatient mental health setting? We are seeking a proactive, compassionate, caring, and recovery-focused HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to join our existing multidisciplinary teams. You will be involved in holistic assessments and interventions to support the planning and delivery of patient care.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), and this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service, with an annual fee of £16.
Responsibilities
* As a Senior Band 6 Occupational Therapist, manage a clinical caseload on the acute wards at Sherwood Oaks Hospital.
* Lead and coordinate the Occupational Therapy Service and provide group and individual interventions.
* Clinically supervise Occupational Therapy staff within the team and other support staff, ensuring safe working practices.
* Receive managerial supervision from the Ward Manager and act as Practice Placement Educator for Occupational Therapy students, providing student placements in accordance with local agreements and standards; support students from other disciplines.
* Liaise with a range of agencies and services across Nottingham.
* Represent and promote the specialist role of occupational therapy, participate in service planning and development, and support practice placements for OT students.
* Lead the team to provide therapy services to the acute wards, working with multidisciplinary colleagues (e.g., physiotherapist, dietician, speech and language therapists, sports instructor, peer support workers, carers, and activity coordinators).
Qualifications and Skills
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
* Ability to assess service users’ needs, identify effective OT plans, and implement them effectively.
* Understanding of acute and complex needs and treatment approaches relevant to the client group.
* Strong communication skills to work with a wide range of multidisciplinary colleagues and agencies; ability to prioritise and provide guidance for staff.
* Leadership ability to lead the OT team and oversee service delivery.
