Are you ready to play a pivotal role in the safe and efficient running of the Humber Ports? Associated British Ports (ABP) is seeking a proactive and organised Marine Operations Manager to join our team, supporting daily marine dock operations across four key ports.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the Dock Master team to ensure the highest standards of marine safety, operational efficiency, and customer service. This is a hands-on role, requiring flexibility and a commitment to upholding health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Uphold and manage health and safety policy standards within the Docks department.
2. Ensure compliance with HSE and Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) requirements across all four Humber ports.
3. Support maintenance systems, including inspections and reporting on infrastructure and equipment.
4. Investigate and report on incidents, using the Marine reporting tool MARNIS.
5. Liaise with mooring and berthing providers to monitor compliance.
6. Represent the Docks at regional HSE, stakeholder, and other meetings.
7. Provide guidance to Assistant Dock Masters and deputise for Dock Masters as required.
Essential Requirements:
8. Maritime qualification or equivalent formal certification in marine operations, or a comparable qualification from a relevant sector.
9. Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and solve problems proactively.
10. Knowledge and understanding of risk-based safety management systems, and Marine and HSE legislation.
11. Flexibility to manage time and location to suit operational requirements across the Humber ports.
12. Proven ability to build positive working relationships with teams and stakeholders.
13. Strong digital literacy and ability to adapt to new technologies and systems.
14. Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
15. Degree-level qualification.
16. Experience managing port operations or vessel activities.
17. NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification.
