Duties Description Provide administrative support to the Regional Director who oversees DEC's programs in an eight-county area. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing all administrative functions in the region spanning multiple offices; answering phones; preparing and editing documents; processing incoming and outgoing mail; scanning; developing and maintaining hardcopy and electronic filing systems; scheduling in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings; handling misc. tracking and reporting; purchasing; data entry; reviewing and updating existing office procedures; drafting new office procedures; training staff on new and revised procedures; maintaining an adequate inventory of office supplies; supervising administrative staff as directed; and completing miscellaneous tasks and special projects as assigned to fulfill the needs of the agency. Candidate will need to be able to effectively resolve day-to-day operational issues and ensure adherence to DEC policies and procedures. Candidate will need to be well-organized, able to manage multiple competing deadlines, and able to effectively prioritize work based on changing needs. Candidate will be required to act as liaison between the regional director and regional staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Preferred Candidate will have the following skills: proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Knowledge of the Attachment A process and other DEC fiscal matters preferred.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 13 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Administrative Assistant 2, Accountant Aide, Program Aide, Business Document Specialist 3, Head Mail & Supply Clerk, Head Stores Clerk, Legal Assistant 1 and Trainee 2, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources), Payroll Examiner 2, Payroll Specialist 2, Principal Data Entry Machine Operator.
