This team will be deployed against some of our most complex and challenging projects and will deliver innovative technical solutions. As the Sr TPM, you will be a key member of tech leadership and will need to drive the technology across the catalog system to create a best-in-class online grocery shopping experience.
We are seeking a Sr Technical Program Manager (TPM) with business and technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for using cutting-edge science and technologies to help WFM.
Our team is looking for Sr Technical Program Managers to manage large, cross-functional programs and projects that support the catalog business. Responsibilities include delivering large projects end-to-end, spanning multiple technology and operational teams, such as expanding into new geographies, creating new supporting technologies, and building scalable technology platforms. You will lead large-scale re-architecture efforts, coordinate design and implementation, and develop optimal solutions through cross-team collaboration. Effective communication of goals, roles, responsibilities, and outcomes is essential.
Key Job Responsibilities
This role is inherently cross-functional—collaborating with engineering, project management, design, operations, finance, legal, business development, customer service, and executive teams to bring products to market, develop business opportunities, and enhance existing products and features. The ideal candidate will be analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, team-oriented, and capable of working independently under tight deadlines. Proven experience in end-to-end project ownership, delivering results in a fast-paced environment, and managing large, complex projects by breaking them into manageable parts is required. Skills in anticipating bottlenecks, escalation management, making tradeoffs, and balancing business and technical needs are critical. Maturity, judgment, negotiation skills, influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential for success.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 8+ years of project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management
* 8+ years of technical program management experience working directly with software engineering teams
* Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules
* Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and with high quality
* Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully across engineering disciplines
* Maturity, judgment, and proven leadership and influence skills
* Independently driven, resourceful, and results-oriented with minimal supervision
* Effective communication skills with developers, business owners, and senior leaders
* High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 7+ years of project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management
* Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinating releases
* Experience defining KPIs and SLAs for multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
* Experience managing multiple products through their lifecycle
* High-scale services experience
* Experience integrating hardware and software development
