LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR TRAINING (ST3 level) in EMERGENCY MEDICINE
FIXED TERM POST – until 04/08/2026
START DATE: February 2026
Applications are invited for a Locum Appointment for Training (ST3 level) in Emergency Medicine in Ninewells Hospital. Locum Appointments for Training will be assigned a named Consultant Educational Supervisor who can provide advice and support throughout the posting. Note the eligibility criteria for this position relate only to the left column on page 3 of the accompanying Person Specification. This is not a Defined Route of Entry - Emergency Medicine (DRE-EM) LAT position.
The post offers an opportunity to develop clinical experience and procedural skills, perform quality improvement work (including teaching opportunities) as well as work towards passing post graduate exams. Educational development time is made available as per college guidelines to allow the development of non-clinical skills and meet some of the hard-to-get specialty learning outcomes (SLOs).
Completion of this could be equivalent to an ST3 year in a national programme in Emergency Medicine on a pro-rata basis, should an Outcome 7.1 be attained at Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP). The appointment could potentially be extended but is dependent on there being ongoing capacity in the training programme. This will become clear within the initial appointment and can be discussed with Dr Colin Munro.
The training programme consistently achieves good ratings on the GMC survey with a high number of experienced Supervisors.
