Job Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and patient/service focused Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team within the Pharmacy Production Unit. To be considered for this role, you will be required to have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician, and hold previous experience of working within a Production Unit, including aseptic manipulation and preparation. Applicants are required to possess high level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice principles and hold the Accredited Checking Technician qualification as well as the BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent). Main duties of the job If you are a self-motivated, well organised individual with an enthusiasm for training, ability to prioritise workload with effective communication skills, we would love to hear from you. Duties within the role will include; Aseptic manipulation and preparation of a range of products to meet our service demands, including Chemotherapy, Parental Nutrition, CIVAS, extemporaneous doses and Radiopharmaceuticals. Supervision and coordination of junior support staff and technicians. Completing sessions of pre-process checking, where attention to detail and accuracy skills are paramount. Deputising where applicable for the Senior Pharmacy Technician. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. Person specification Qualifications And/or Knowledge Essential criteria Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (QCF) or equivalent Completed All Wales Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Qualification Completed specialist post-qualification training in aseptic processing of radioisotopes, cytotoxic chemotherapy, CIVAS and parenteral nutrition (neonatal and adult) Knowledge, understanding and experience of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and QA and its application to Aseptic processing Knowledge of COSSH regulations Good understanding of operation of hospital pharmacy services Desirable criteria Membership of relevant professional Association Completed Leeds University Aseptic Preparation & Dispensing of Medicines short course (APDM) Knowledge of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IRMER) Experience Essential criteria Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of post qualification experience in aseptic service Experience of working in aseptic/clean room environment Experience of working as an Accredited Checking Technician Experience of working with radiopharmaceuticals Working in hospital pharmacy dispensary services Desirable criteria Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems Other Essential criteria Commitment to CPD Record of personal development Participate in the provision of general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services as necessary Desirable criteria Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner Essential Criteria Aptitude / Abilities / Skills Well motivated, good attention to detail, organised and adaptable Ability to maintain concentration for long periods of time Able to communicate effectively with a variety of service users Able to use IT to use the pharmacy system, produce reports, gather and analyse data and produce presentations Ability to work under pressure / to time schedules
